Rocker is the magic element of a board that gives it the initial feeling and the most important feature - how the water enters, slides across the bottom and exits your surfboard. Most shapers have clean outlines and foils, but they are nothing without a smooth favorable rocker. One should develop this before all other aspects. A rocker plan should be chosen based on the likeliness of a surfer to ride using his/her front foot or back foot, or both. Rocker also works closely with the outline.
